Finally the very first copy of our exemplary has arrived in the office. The box, modelled on an officer's writing slope, has taken several prototypes to perfect, but we are now absolutely delighted with it. The book and the portfolio sit snugly inside, protected by the lining and secured by the lids. Both the portfolio and the book are fully bound in leather with raised bands and the cover design of the book is executed in embroidery with coloured and metallic threads. Underneath the portfolio are two additional maps, the Duke's own map, courtesy of the Royal Engineers and Du Craan's exquisite map of the field.

WATERLOO - breaks cover at the Waterloo Association AGM

The very first copy of the Commemorative Edition arrived on my desk this afternoon, the culmination of seven years of planning and hard work and it looks fabulous. I have to wait until next week before the exemplary copy arrives as the gilders are off for Easter, but for now I am delighted that we will be able to show this copy to the Waterloo Association at their AGM on April 15th. It will also be on display at the London Book Fair from the 14th to the 16th on the Ludlow Bookbinders stand.
